About the Training Summit
The 2010 Integrated Medical, Public Health, Preparedness and Response Training Summit is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). This training summit brings together HHS partners including the National Disaster Medical System (NDMS), the Office of the Civilian Volunteer Medical Reserve Corps (OCVMRC), the Emergency System for Advance Registration of Volunteer Health Professionals (ESAR-VHP), and the Office of Force Readiness and Deployment (OFRD). The Integrated Training Summit is co-sponsored by the Chesapeake Health Education Program, Inc.
This forum permits coordination, collaboration and interaction amongst the target audience - the leaders and members of these preparedness and response partner organizations. The Integrated Training Summit will enhance the knowledge, skills and abilities of participants, which in turn will improve their capability to deliver public health and medical care services during disasters of any origin. Expert faculty will present on key focus areas; Healthcare Systems, Leadership, ESF#8 Integration, Resources, Public Health and Medical. Networking with these expert faculty members and fellow participants, many of whom are the nation’s leaders in the area of public health emergencies, will provide insight into the latest information available in the area of emergency response and coordination.
Strategic Direction
The vision for the 2010 Integrated Medical, Public Health, Preparedness and Response Training Summit is to have a robust, well-trained and integrated pool of public health and medical responders who understand their roles and missions in times of need, as well as those of their response partners, in order to best serve our communities, States, Tribes, and the Nation.
The Integrated Training Summit will achieve this vision by convening a forum for conducting training, discussing issues, sharing information, and networking amongst the constituent groups of various national-level organizations involved in preparing for and responding to public health and medical emergency events. Some specific strategies for 2010 include:
- Reinforce the relationships between the public health and response partner organizations
- Focus on all-hazards approaches
- Enable facilitated, interactive learning opportunities
